Clear skin isn't impossible. If you have issues with acne, blemishes, sun spots or scarring, you can get clear, younger-looking skin. It may take changing some lifestyle habits, your diet, and your face care routine, but it is possible. See below for tips on how to clear up your skin.
Change Your Skin Care Routine
If you have issues with acne, you should wash your face twice daily. Once in the morning and once in the evening before bed. Be sure to wash all makeup off of your face, and never sleep in makeup (as this can clog your pores). Use a gentle face wash that won't dry out your skin. Dry skin can cause your skin to produce excess oil, which can actually cause more breakouts. Wash your face with your face wash, then pat your skin dry.
Use a facial moisturizer that is lightweight, but helps keep your skin supple and hydrated. Don't use anything too oily that it clogs your pores. Also look for a moisturizer that contains SPF to help protect your skin while hydrating it. SPF should be used daily, no matter the season to protect your skin from the suns harmful rays (UVA and UVB). These harmful rays are responsible for premature wrinkles and dark spots.
Change Your Lifestyle
Drinking plenty of water is good for your entire body, but it is really good at clearing up your skin. Water helps to hydrate your skin, which in turn will clear up oily skin. Drink at least 8 - 10 glasses of water per day. Replacing one sugary drink per day with water can go a long way in clearing up your skin.
Replace greasy foods (such as french fries and pizza) with healthier options. Some examples of healthier options would be leafy green vegetables, lean proteins, fish or fresh fruits and vegetables. Also skip out on sugary foods such as candy and chocolate, which can also cause acne.
Exercise can clear up your skin, as sweating can clean out your pores. Exercise daily or at least a few times per week, not just to improve your skin, but to improve your overall health. Try to exercise for at least 30 minutes, and get in a good sweat. Some fun exercises are lifting weights, cardio, aerobics, yoga or Pilates. Whichever exercise you prefer, get in a good workout and make sure you sweat.
Change Your Cleaning Routine
Wash your bedding more often, as your pillowcase can accumulate with oils from your face. Continuing to sleep on the oils can transfer them back onto your face and cause more acne. Wash your bedding every two weeks, or every week if possible.
Your cell phone could be causing your acne. Clean up your phone by wiping it with a bleach wipe to get rid of oils from your hands or face. These oils can transfer back to you, so clean your phone often. Also clean up your home phone and your phone at work (if you use one often, especially if you share a phone).
Some shampoos and conditioners have oils in them. If you have acne around your hairline, your cleansers or other hair-care products could be the problem. Also, swap your makeup for hypoallergenic products. Be sure to toss old makeup that is expired, and never share your makeup with anyone. Also, wash your makeup brushes to get rid of built up oil.
Your skin is what makes you - you. Take good care of your skin by using the right face-care products. Wash your face at least twice daily and after sweating. Make some of these changes for healthier, beautiful skin. Talk to a dermatologist at Dermatology Center of Wellington
